CrossFit Programming
Build a movement library, compose WODs from reusable sections, and attach them to classes and courses so athletes can view and log their results in the Thril app.
CrossFit Programming lets your venue build a library of movements and workout sections, combine them into programs (WODs), and attach those programs to classes. Once attached, athletes see the workout on the class page and log their results straight from the Thril mobile app.
π₯ Before you start: enabling Programming
The Programming section only appears in your portal sidebar once crossfit is one of your venue's configured sport types. Sport types come from the sports assigned to your resources, or from the associated sport types set in venue settings.

Once your venue has crossfit configured, two things happen automatically:
- The Programming section appears in your portal sidebar
- Members who favorite your venue find it as a "box" in the mobile app, with access to their CrossFit training diary
𧩠Core concepts
- Movement: a catalog exercise, either global (part of Thril's built-in catalog, e.g. Back Squat) or custom (added by your venue)
- Section: a reusable workout block, one of five types: Warm-up, Strength, Conditioning, Accessory, Cool-down. A section can live in your library, be created one-off for a single program, or be marked as a benchmark
- Program: an ordered composition of sections. This is the WOD as it will appear on a class
- Workout log: an athlete's diary entry, created either by logging a program's result or by logging a free benchmark attempt with no class attached
ποΈ The building blocks, in order
- Build your catalog: Movement library
- Build reusable blocks: Sections
- Compose the workout: Programs (WODs)
- Put it on the schedule: Assigning WODs to classes and courses
π« How this fits with classes and courses
There's no separate "WOD booking" entity. A class is a normal event, either a scheduled class (a recurring class format) or, inside a course, a course class. A program attaches directly to the individual class occurrence, so the same WOD workflow works whether the class is a standalone recurring session or part of a structured course. Classes themselves are created and scheduled through Events, including the "Separate classes from events" setting most CrossFit venues will want enabled.

π± What athletes see
Athletes view the WOD and log their results in the Thril mobile app. Once a program is attached to a published class, they see its sections on the class page, log a score for each scored section from the Scorecard once the class starts, and get personal-record tracking for benchmark sections. Everyone's results are visible per class, so athletes can compare within the session.

As a coach, you can review results in the portal from a section's Results tab, which lists every athlete's logged score for that section across every class.

β Best practices
- Build your movement and section libraries before writing programs, so classes stay consistent across coaches
- Mark true benchmark workouts (Fran, Murph, Grace and similar) as benchmarks so athletes get progression tracking and history for them
- Publish and assign a program before the class goes live, so athletes can see the workout ahead of time
- Use coach notes for scaling suggestions or coaching cues, they stay internal and are never shown to athletes
- Model an EMOM as Rounds on a For time or AMRAP section, there's no dedicated EMOM result type
