Welcome offers
Give people credits for joining your customer register and for allowing email offers, and let them join from your venue page, your company page, a flier QR code, or checkout.
A welcome offer pays people to become your customers. They join your register from the Thril app without buying anything, and credits land in their wallet straight away. You can pay a second reward the first time somebody allows email offers from you.
The offer runs on your own money, so you decide the amounts and how long the credits last. It is off until you turn it on.
The two rewards
The offer has two rewards, and you can use either one or both:
- Reward for joining. Credits a new customer receives when they join your customer register through Thril. Staff can also grant this reward when creating a customer. Booking a court or arriving through an import does not award it.
- Reward for email consent. Credits a person receives the first time they allow email offers from you. Your existing customers can earn this one too, so it is a way to grow the list you already have.
Somebody who joins with the email box ticked earns both at once, as two separate batches of credits.
Each person can earn each reward once ever. Turning the offer off and back on later does not let anybody earn a second time.
The ordinary consent box at checkout, edits in the customer drawer, imports, and the public API record consent without giving credits.
Setting the offer up
Open Welcome offers under Marketing and select the Settings tab. Your running totals sit above both tabs.
- Turn on Turn on welcome offers.
- Set Reward for joining the customer register, Reward for marketing consent, or both. Leave a field empty for no reward of that kind.
- Set Credits expire after. Unused credits disappear after this many days, counted from the moment they are given. The default is 30 days.
- Select Save changes.
An offer that is on must pay at least one of the two rewards, so you cannot turn it on with both amounts empty.
Credits from a welcome offer are spendable at every venue of your company, whatever your other credit settings say. Somebody who joins at one of your venues can use the reward at any of them.
Giving rewards when staff create a customer
You can grant welcome offers on a customer's behalf, even if they do not have the app:
- Open Customers and select Create customer.
- Enter the customer's details. An existing Thril account with the same email address will be used.
- Turn on Email marketing consent if the customer has agreed. The description shows the consent reward when one is available.
- Turn on Grant welcome offers to give the eligible rewards. This switch appears only when an offer is active.
- Select Create.
Both switches start off. Consent is saved without credits unless Grant welcome offers is on. The joining reward requires a new company customer, and the consent reward requires accepted marketing consent. Previously claimed rewards cannot be granted again.
Changing or stopping the offer
Your changes apply to rewards given from then on. Nothing is ever taken back:
- Turning the offer off hides it everywhere. Credits people already have stay in their wallets until they expire.
- Changing an amount does not change what anybody has already received.
The badge under the page title shows Active or Inactive.
Where customers see it
- Your venue page, above the benefits cards.
- Your company page, if you are a chain.
- In the join sheet, which spells out what joining means before they confirm.
- At checkout, above the payment method, for somebody who is not your customer yet. Joining there applies the credits to the purchase they are about to make.
A person who is already your customer sees their customer number instead, or an invitation to turn email offers on if they have not.
Putting the offer on a flier
Add ?join=1 to your venue's address and it opens the join sheet directly, on the web and in the mobile app:
https://thril.fi/venue/your-venue-slug?join=1Turn that into a QR code and put it on a flier, a reception counter, or a court-side sign. Somebody who scans it lands on the join sheet with the reward already shown. If they are not signed in, they sign in first and come back to the same place.
The same works for a company page:
https://thril.fi/companies/your-company-id?join=1The link always works. If you have turned the offer off by the time somebody scans the code, they can still join, they just do not receive credits.
Following what the offer costs
The cards on top of the page show where the money has gone:
- Rewards given. How many rewards have been given. The tooltip splits the total into joins and marketing consents.
- Credits given. The total you have given.
- Credits spent. What customers have actually used, and what share of the total that is.
- Credits expired. What ran out unused. This is money you never paid.
The Rewards tab lists every reward: who received it, which of the two it was, the amount, how much of it is left, when it was given, and when it expires. Select a row to open that customer.
A few practical notes
- Children's accounts never earn a reward. A guardian earns their own reward normally.
- Set Credits expire after to a period that gives people a real reason to come back. Credits that expire unused cost you nothing, but credits nobody had time to use do not bring anybody through the door either.
- Monitor the totals and turn off Turn on welcome offers when you want to stop giving rewards. Select Save changes to apply the change.
